Expedition Hashtag #VUAMSTERDAM
Before the beginning of the Academic Year, new VU International Students arrived in Amsterdam and we want to find a fun and exciting way for them to discover the city and meet new friends.
Therefore we organized Expedition Hashtag #VUAMSTERDAM. A quest where students have to find hidden Hashtags throughout the city and shoot photos of visited places to win an exclusive VU bike.

Facebook and Email Marketing
To inform students and get them to participate in the Expedition Hashtag we used Facebook and Email Marketing as the main communication platform.
A special website was created with information about how to participate, subscribe to the Expedition, answer students Frequently Asked Questions and honor the winners.
Hashtag the World Instagram
During the Expedition an Instagram contest was organised. The students were encouraged to shoot and hashtag photos of the visited locations. The best photos were selected and featured on a special website powered by Hashtag the World, a SetWeb tool that helps you get the most out of User Generated Content via Instagram.
In 4 different days, Expedition Hashtag #VUAMSTERDAM, welcomed almost 140 students. They experienced Amsterdam by visiting 6 different locations. More than 300 photos were shot and hashtagged on Instagram with #VUAMSTERDAM. Most important of all the students had fun, met new friends and 70 bikes were given away to the winners of this adventurous quest throughout their new home.
